Introduction
Welcome to Great Community (GC)! Great Community (referred to as "GC," "we," "us," or "our") is primarily an online community focused on personal growth, shared knowledge, and engaging conversations. We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from you, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. By using our website (currently hosted at violet-goat-812693.hostingersite.com) or participating in our community (including any related services such as our Discord server or token whitelist forms), you agree to the practices outlined in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please refrain from using our site or services.
Information We Collect
We collect information from you in a few different ways. Some information is provided directly by you, and some may be collected automatically when you use our site or services. Below is what we typically collect:
- Information You Provide: When you interact with our site or community, you might provide personal details. For example, if you subscribe to a newsletter, fill out a contact form, or join a token whitelist, you may give us information like your name, email address, or social media handle. If we launch application forms for community membership or events, those forms might request details such as your interests or background (we will only ask for what is relevant).
- Wallet Information: If you choose to participate in our GREAT (GT) token early-access whitelist or other token-related programs, we may ask for your cryptocurrency wallet address or similar identifiers. We use this only to administer token distribution (e.g., to whitelist you for an airdrop or to send community rewards). We do not ask for private keys or sensitive wallet credentials – ever. (Remember: keep your private keys secure and never share them with anyone, including us.)
- Usage Data: Like many websites, we automatically receive and record information when you visit our site. This may include your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, and the dates/times of access. We might use third-party analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) that use cookies or similar technologies to collect aggregate usage statistics. This data helps us understand how users navigate our site so we can improve layout and content.
- Cookies & Similar Technologies: We use cookies (small text files stored on your device) and similar tracking technologies to provide core functionality and analyze usage. For example, cookies may allow you to stay logged in (if we later add account features) or remember your preferences. We may also use cookies to gather analytics data as mentioned above. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, but note that some parts of our site might not function properly without them.
- Community Interaction Data: If you join our community on external platforms (like Discord, Reddit, or X/Twitter), we may indirectly receive certain information about you from those platforms. For instance, we might see your username, avatar, and any profile info you made public on those services. We also see the content you choose to post in our community spaces (e.g., messages on our Discord server or comments on social media). Keep in mind that any information you voluntarily share in public community forums can be viewed by others, so please exercise caution with what you post.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for various legitimate purposes related to operating and improving Great Community services. Specifically, we may use your information to:
- Provide and Improve Our Services: We use personal information to operate the website and community and to provide you with the features you request. For example, if you sign up for email updates, we use your email to send you the newsletter or announcements. If you join our token whitelist, we use your info to verify eligibility and deliver tokens or related updates. Usage data and feedback help us troubleshoot issues, analyze site performance, and improve user experience for the community.
- Communicate with You: We may send administrative or informational communications, such as confirmations of sign-up, community updates, policy changes, or event announcements. If you’re on our mailing list, we will send newsletters or relevant community news. You can opt out of non-essential communications at any time (for example, via an “unsubscribe” link in emails). Note that we will still send essential notices (like changes to terms or privacy, or important account information if accounts exist in the future).
- Community Engagement and Safety: Information you provide or that we have (like your Discord username or email) might be used to manage and personalize your experience in the community. For instance, moderators might use your info to recognize you as a verified member or grant you certain roles/permissions in our Discord after you’ve met criteria (such as holding GT tokens or being on a whitelist). We may also use information to enforce community guidelines and policies, keep our community safe, and prevent misuse. (For example, if someone is violating rules or engaging in harmful behavior, we might use available info to investigate and take action, such as limiting access or contacting the platform).
- Token Distribution and Utility: If you provided a wallet address for a token event (like an airdrop or reward distribution), we use that information to execute the token transfer. We only use it for that purpose and associated record-keeping. We might also use it to confirm that you received your tokens or to troubleshoot any issues with delivery. Aside from that, we do not use your wallet address to track your personal transactions – though please note that cryptocurrency transactions are public on the blockchain by their nature.
- Legal Compliance and Preventing Harm: In rare cases, we may need to use or disclose information to comply with a legal obligation (e.g., a valid subpoena or regulation) or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Great Community, our members, or others. This includes addressing fraud, security, or technical issues. For instance, if required by law enforcement due to illegal activities, we might have to provide relevant data as mandated by law. We will only do so when legally compelled or necessary for urgent safety concerns.
We will not use your personal information for purposes unrelated to the above without asking for your consent. We also do not engage in selling your personal data to third-party marketers.
How We Share and Disclose Information
Great Community respects your privacy. We are not in the business of selling or trading your personal information. However, there are a few situations where we may share information, as outlined below:
- Service Providers: We may share some data with trusted third-party service providers who help us run our website and community. For example, if we use an email newsletter service, we would provide your email to that provider to send out our communications. Likewise, if we use analytics or hosting services, those providers process usage data on our behalf. These third parties are contractually bound to handle your data securely and only for our specified purposes.
- Community Platforms: If you participate in our community on third-party platforms (such as Discord or social media), your activity and profile information on those platforms are of course visible to others there. Moderators or admins of our community spaces may have access to information provided on those platforms (for instance, Discord admins can see your Discord username and any data you make available on your profile). Keep in mind that anything you post in public channels can be seen by other members. We do not publish or share your community posts outside those platforms without your permission, though we might occasionally highlight community achievements or discussions (with identifying info removed or with consent).
- Business Transactions: If Great Community ever undergoes a business transition such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, user information (which is one of our assets) might be transferred to the new owner as part of that deal. If that happens, we will ensure any successor is bound by terms that protect your data in line with this Privacy Policy, and we will notify users of any change in ownership or use of personal information, as well as any choices you may have.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (for example, a court order, subpoena, or government demand). We may also share information when we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request. This includes exchanging information with other organizations for fraud prevention, spam/malware protection, or other similar purposes.
- Your Consent: Aside from the cases above, if we ever want to share your personal information for any other purpose, we would seek your consent. For example, if in the future a partner organization wanted to offer something to our community and needed your info, we would only proceed if you agreed to that sharing. You are in control of whether we share your personal details beyond the scope of this policy.
Third-Party Links and Services
Our website and community content may contain links to third-party websites or integrate third-party services that are not operated by us. For example, our site might link to our Discord server, or to Twitter, Reddit, YouTube, or other platforms where we have a presence. If you click on a third-party link or access external services through our site, be aware that you will be redirected outside our platform. We do not control third-party sites and services, and they have their own privacy policies and terms. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those external platforms. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites or services you interact with. Great Community is not responsible for the content, privacy, or security practices of any third parties.
Additionally, if we embed content from others (such as a YouTube video or a Twitter feed) on our website in the future, those services might collect data about you through their embedded frame (for instance, YouTube could record views of an embedded video). Such data collection is governed by the third party’s policy. We will endeavor to minimize unnecessary third-party tracking, and where possible, we’ll provide notice (like "You are viewing content from [service]") so you are aware.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the security of your personal information. Our website is hosted on a reputable platform (Hostinger) which implements security features like encryption (HTTPS) for data in transit. We also restrict access to personal data internally – only organizers or administrators who need the information to perform their duties will handle it.
However, please note that no website or internet transmission is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security of data. Cyber threats evolve rapidly, and despite our best efforts, breaches can occur even in well-protected systems. You also play a role in security: protect any account credentials (if account features are introduced) and be cautious about sharing personal details in public areas. If you believe that your interaction with us or your data might no longer be secure (for example, if you suspect your account has been compromised), please notify us immediately using the contact information below so we can assist.
In the context of the GREAT (GT) token and blockchain interactions: transactions on a blockchain are by design public and irreversible. While wallet addresses are pseudonymous, they can be observed by anyone on the blockchain. We do not have control over the security of the blockchain or your personal crypto wallet. Ensure you keep your wallet secure (use strong passwords, secure your private keys or seed phrase offline, etc.). Great Community will never ask for your private keys, and you should never share them with anyone. If you send or receive GT tokens, remember that those transactions cannot be undone by us or any central party in case of an error.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location and applicable privacy laws, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. We are committed to honoring applicable rights, which may include:
- Access and Correction: You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you and to request corrections of any inaccuracies. For example, if you believe we have your email or name wrong, you can ask us to fix it.
- Deletion: You can request that we delete the personal information we have collected from you. Keep in mind, this is subject to certain exceptions – we might need to retain some data for legal obligations or legitimate interests (for example, records of a token distribution for accounting or anti-fraud purposes). But we will fulfill deletion requests to the extent we can. If you want your data removed from our mailing list or community records, contact us and we will take necessary steps.
- Consent Withdrawal: If you have given consent for a particular use of your information (e.g., subscribing to a newsletter or consenting to optional cookies), you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawing consent will not affect the legality of processing done before your withdrawal. For instance, you can unsubscribe from emails via the provided link, or adjust cookie preferences in your browser.
- Opt-Out of Communications: As mentioned, you may opt out of non-essential communications (like promotional emails). Each such email from us will include instructions on how to opt out. You can also contact us directly to be removed from our contact list.
- Non-Discrimination: If you exercise any privacy rights (such as asking to delete your data), we will not treat you differently. For example, we won’t deny you access to the public parts of our community just because you opted out of our newsletter. Note, however, that some services require certain data – if you ask us to delete all your data, we might not be able to provide certain services afterward (for instance, if an email is required to log into a future site feature, deleting it means you can’t use that feature until re-registering).
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information in the “Contact Us” section below. We may need to verify your identity to process certain requests (for your protection, we wouldn’t want to delete the wrong person’s data, for example). We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with applicable law.
Please note: If you are part of our community on a third-party platform (Discord, etc.), you’ll need to follow that platform’s processes to exercise privacy options on their site. For instance, Discord has its own privacy settings and data request mechanisms that we can’t control. But if there’s community-specific data you want us to address (like removal of a message you posted on a forum we control), we’ll do our best to help.
Children's Privacy
Great Community’s website and services are not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 years old. If you are under 13, please do not use our site or give us any information. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
For minors aged 13–17: We recommend that you have a parent or guardian’s permission before participating in the community or providing any information. Our content is generally appropriate for a wide audience and focuses on self-improvement, ideas, and community discussion, but there may be topics or interactions better suited for adults. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your minor child has provided personal information to us without your consent, please contact us and we will remove the data and, if desired, delete any accounts or memberships associated with that child.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make changes, we will revise the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy. If the changes are significant, we may also provide a more prominent notice, such as a banner on our website or an announcement via email or in our community channels, to inform you of the update.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. Your continued use of our website or participation in the community after any changes to this policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree with any updates or modifications, you should stop using our services and you may request that we remove your data as outlined above.
